Evidence of Impact
Lasting change for families, communities, and systems

Since its inception, the Climate Resilient Livelihoods Programme has enabled thousands of families to escape extreme poverty - permanently. Independent evaluations, field data, and qualitative accounts consistently confirm the programme’s effectiveness in strengthening livelihoods, advancing gender equality, and building resilience in the face of climate shocks.
Key outcomes
- Over 300,000 people have moved out of extreme poverty since 2002
- Families report increased income and improved food security within 12–18 months of participation
- Women involved in self-help groups take on leadership roles and influence local decision-making at community or municipal level
- High retention of asset value: productive capital is maintained and expanded over time, with minimal loss even in the face of climate-related shocks
- Improved access to public services: significant increases in the uptake of safety nets, agricultural inputs, and healthcare
- Strengthened disaster preparedness at household and community level, including financial reserves, early warning systems, and local response capacity
- Replicated by others: local governments and NGOs have adopted and adapted elements of the model in new contexts and regions
Validated by independent research
- External evaluations commissioned by international donors (e.g. EU, BMZ) confirm the programme’s relevance, efficiency, and impact
- Academic partnerships have documented the programme’s role in climate adaptation and gender empowerment
- Tools such as baseline and endline surveys, outcome mapping, and case tracking are systematically used
These transformations are not temporary - they are rooted in community structures that continue to function and grow after the formal project ends.
