Climate-Resilient Income Generation
Building livelihoods that last - even under climate stress

Extreme poor families face a dual challenge: they lack stable incomes and are increasingly exposed to climate-related shocks. The programme addresses both by supporting women to generate income through diverse, climate-resilient livelihood options.
Asset transfers with purpose
Each participating household receives a tailored package of productive assets valued at around €150, selected through their Family Development Plan. These typically include:
- Short-term income assets: poultry, goats, vegetable seeds, home gardens
- Longer-term assets: cattle, leased land, trees, or irrigation equipment
Assets are purchased locally with the participation of the women themselves, building familiarity with local markets and increasing ownership.
Skills for sustainability
Participants receive practical training in areas such as:
- Climate-smart agriculture and livestock rearing
- Pest and disease management
- Post-harvest handling and value addition
- Market access, pricing strategies, and small business planning
Technologies and practices are selected based on their profitability, sustainability, and climate suitability, often in collaboration with local experts.

From consumption to capital
- Surpluses from home production improve household food security
- Savings grow through SHGs and small group reserves
- Profits are reinvested, expanding the household’s capital base
This approach does more than generate income - it builds resilient, self-managed livelihoods that can adapt to seasonal variability and withstand climate shocks.
