Study on Conflicts in Adivasi Villages

|by Jakob P. Braun | This study, carried out in 2010 in collaboration with NETZ and the NGO Ashrai, provides a comprehensive insight into conflicts affecting Adivasi communities in the North of Bangladesh, trying to understand their causes, their nature and their consequences. Through several field-visits, interviews and group discussions it was possible to analyse key-factors leading to conflicts, including access to natural resources and to public services.

"Beyond the headlines, NETZ takes a second look at the complexity and contradictions of Bangladesh – a country that is undergoing rapid change. Transnational economic interests enter into a sinister alliance with local power structures at the expense of those excluded from education and elemental human rights. Besides their competent analyses, NETZ demonstrates that external assistance and self-determination fit together: a nutritious meal and social participation every day."
