Income and Food Security for Ultra-Poor

NETZ Partnership for Development and Justice has implemented the project "Income and Food Security for Ultra-Poor "(IFSUP) in collaboration with the three local NGOs Sabalamby Unnayan Samity (SUS), Ashrai and Jagorani Chakra Foundation (JCF) in the northwest of Bangladesh. The intervention was designed with the overall objective to contribute to the first Millennium Development Goal (MDG 1) which is "eradication of extreme poverty and hunger in Bangladesh by 2015".

IFSUP started its operation in January 2007. The initial phase from 1. January 2007 to 31 December 2009 of this programme was supported by the European Union. It was designed to uplift 4,800 Adibasi and non-Adibasi ultra-poor households out of poverty and hunger in 24 Unions under 6
Upazilas: Panchbibi and Joypurhat Sadar of Joypurhat District, Durgapur and Kalmakanda of Netrakona District and Kaunia and Gangachara of Rangpur District. From 1. January 2010 the follow-up phase is supported by NETZ, co-funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
